I don’t want to be misunderstood — I believe in love.

I believe love is everywhere: in the morning when you’re drinking coffee and looking into the backyard, watching birds fly around; when you’re playing board games with your friends; when you’re watching a movie with your boyfriend; or even when you’re having dinner with your parents. I know you can find real love there.

But there’s something about growing up watching romance everywhere, and that is the fact that the romance we see on TV is not real.

We’re living in 2025. We know what a functional relationship is, and it’s definitely not what I saw in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days when I was 13. It’s cheesy, that’s true, but that’s not real love.

I believe real love makes you feel at peace. The kind of love that’s truly meant for you doesn’t ask you to be someone else just to fit in. Real love is like the beach, listening to the waves makes you feel like you don’t have anything to worry about. For me, that’s what real love is.
