Some birthdays arrive heavy.
Some arrive quietly.
Some arrive like mirrors, showing us everything we think we are not.
There are birthdays when success feels distant,
birthdays when love feels absent,
birthdays that pass like any other ordinary day.
That was once my way of seeing life.
A vision shaped by what was missing,
by an ungrateful heart still learning how to see.
Today is my birthday,
and there is only one word that lives in me: gratitude.
Gratitude for the people who care about me,
for the love that surrounds me even when loneliness whispers otherwise.
I only have to look around to see it
in gestures, in affection, in the quiet ways love insists on staying.
For years, I measured my life by what I lacked.
I forgot to count what I already held:
the love of my parents,
the love of my friends,
the love of my boyfriend,
the love of my family,
and most importantly, the love I learned to give myself.
No one will ever love me the way I do.
When I chose kindness toward myself,
the world softened.
Love became visible everywhere.
This birthday feels different.
Not because everything is perfect,
but because everything is enough.
Today, I feel loved.
Today, I feel successful.
Today, I feel that I care.
I welcome this new year of my life with open hands
ready for growth, for pain, for joy, for happiness.
For all the lessons still waiting to find me.
I am grateful for the life I have lived,
for the life that shaped me,
and for the life that is quietly calling my name from ahead.
